I have lots of stories of things going wrong and our hilarious handling of the resulting situations. Unfortunately for you, I won’t be going into all the details for this story because I made a promise to a certain someone. 😉 But it’s still amusing.
Do you ever find yourself heading to a birthday party empty handed and realize you completely forgot a present? Then you stop somewhere to quickly find something and end up wrapping it on your car in the parking lot? No? That’s just me then? Well, on this Saturday in February, we made a stop at Target on the way to a cousin’s birthday party. My husband and the boys sat in the parking lot with the car turned off but the DVD player on. We’ve done this plenty of times without problems.
But as I rush back to the car and quickly start wrapping the present, my husband goes to start the car and…nothing. Really?! He tries again and I’m ready to bang my head against the hood of the car. Of course, in his completely calm, laid back way, my husband tells me not to worry, we’re at a Target! So he goes in and purchases a portable car battery charger that was ready to go. We got the car started and were only about 15 minutes late for the party. I couldn’t help but note that this particular charger required it’s own charge after one time. I mean, that’s fine but what if the car hadn’t started? Or you don’t get a chance to charge the charger? I had many questions about it. It saved us but UGH, the cost was hard to swallow.
Not even a week later, I enter a contest online and I won! They send me what was called the Powerall. Here I’m thinking it’s a portable electronics charger. When I received it, I found it is MUCH more than that. It came with actual car battery charging cables! So of course I’m thinking, “We really could’ve used this a week ago!” Lucky for us, we had actually gotten it just in time.
A few days later, we were heading to a birthday dinner for my dad (now that I’m writing this, I’m wondering if my car doesn’t like birthdays) and the car once again doesn’t start. This long story brings me to my experience with the Powerall. This thing has 5V/2.1A USB ports and a flashlight in addition to being a car charger. The USB ports provide some of the highest amperage offered by electronic chargers, making it perfect for a wide assortment of electronics. Actually, my husband’s phone is having trouble charging with anything less than 2A, so this is great when his phone battery is low. Even the flashlight is unique with two different settings, constant on and SOS signal flash.
And the best part for me? When fully charged, the Powerall can be used up to 20 times to charge our car! Truly fit for emergencies. Our car started right away and we were off to dinner. You do have to follow directions carefully and immediately remove the clamps from the battery once the car is started, so watch that if you end up purchasing your own Powerall.
We did end up needing a new battery, but now we’re prepared. My husband took the other charger for his car which he only uses for work, so that works well for him. And we’re keeping the Powerall in our main car so we’re not caught by surprise again.

I won the Powerall in a blog giveaway and was not compensated by the company in any other way. All opinions are 100% my own.
